Students from the UKTA Torbay Taekwon-Do School have just returned triumphant after a long day competing in the 2009 UKTA Welsh Taekwon-Do Championships, staged at the Welsh National Indoor Athletics centre in Cardiff.
The thirteen students who train at the Torquay’s Acorn centre all put in a spectacular performance battling against students from all over the UK. Winning a total of 21 medals in patterns, sparring, breaking and special technique. The success of the students also placed the Torbay school third out of the forty-five schools at the end of the event.

Special congratulations go to the gold medal winners Lorna Wright, Rachael Smith, Keiran Tully, Sam Bridge, Jackson Millis and Ben Hogan who can now all add the title of 2009 Welsh Champion to their Taekwon-Do CV.
Coach and 5th Dan Instructor Steve Millis was very pleased with the students and hopes that their success will inspire some of the other up and coming students in the school.
