Kick for Charity
Twenty seven martial arts students UKTA South Devon Taekwon-Do schools have just done their bit for charity by taking part in a sponsored sparring event. After arriving at the Torquay’s Acorn Sports Centre the students had to complete in 60 x 1 minute rounds of sparring completing them within one and a half hours. During the event the participants had to battle kicking and punching continuously whilst trying to avoid being hit themselves, taking the opportunity to catch their breath only when changing partners after each bout. To make it more physically demanding the Sun also chose to add a twist to the event by heating the hall up to some really uncomfortable temperature.
By the end of the event the students were exhausted students but all successful in completing the challenge, raising a total of £806 which is to be donated to the charity ‘Help for Heroes’ and hopefully help subsidise some of our the local students selected to represent England Internationally.
Well done everyone!
