Doing it for club and country

Two UKTA South Devon Taekwon-Do students, Rachael Smith (18) and Tom Bridge (16), have just returned from the ITF Taekwon-Do European championships in Tallinn, Estonia where the temperatures reached a shocking -21C. This was Rachael’s’ first international competition as a member of the ITF England squad and even though there were no medals this time she did gain some valuable experience of international competition. More experienced international competitor Tom managed to fight his way through the rounds and he was rewarded for his efforts with a European bronze medal in individual sparring. At the end of the event England came fifth out of approximately 30 countries.

Their Instructor Steven Millis who has now produced nine students for the National team, was extremely proud when both of them made it through the Team selection. He would also like to congratulate them both on their performance in Tallinn, they did Club and Country proud!
